Lloyd has built a wide range of machine learning products for the advertising, gaming and retail industries in San Francisco, Helsinki and Berlin. He holds a PhD and a Masters degree in mathematics from the City University of New York and the University of Cambridge, respectively.
After completing a postdoc in Algebraic Geometry at the University of Virginia, Lloyd entered the tech industry at Unity Technologies, San Francisco. There he worked on various machine learning projects that support one of the world's leading Ad Platforms with billions of active users: pricing algorithms, fraud detection and recommender systems.
In Helsinki, he led the machine learning effort in a cross-functional R&D team that developed a product to personalize mobile games using deep reinforcement learning. He took this product from the design stage, through implementation, to delivery and support with customers.
Lloyd has a special focus on probabilistic approaches to uncertainty in ML models, as well as on the software- and data-engineering challenges of deploying ML applications at massive scale.
